Eggshell nails

Eggshell nails are fragile and thin, forming a hook faced into the toe.

Causes include extreme weight loss diets and internal bodily diseases. Be gentle during nail care or visit a medical professional.

This can be said for most nail diseases, but the actual problem isn’t in the nails themselves. Abnormalities in the body cause the nails to show symptoms related to that internal problem.

Therefore, it is crucial to look for these symptoms, and avoid having fake nails or nail art on the nails for a prolonged period of time.

Especially for this symptom, the nails become fragile which means it’s best to avoid nail art which places a burden on the health of the nails. Having this symptom reflects the possibility that there is a problem within the body. Even though there are no obvious signs of this, it is best to visit a medical health professional.

The growth speed of the nail varies for each individual. From 6 months to a year, or even 0.1mm per day. This means there is a growth of 1mm in 10 days and 10mm in 100 days, in other words 1cm. This also depends on which finger, whether it is on the hands or feet.

The nails on the finger are said grow at 2 to 3 times the speed of the nails on our toes.

Therefore, if you feel that you have this condition, please visit a medical professional as soon as possible. If you do have this disease and you continue applying nail art, wear very tight shoes or apply too much pressure on the nails, it may cause them to split or break.

When this happens, it takes months to years for the nail to fully heal and grow to its original length.
